The course covers the geologic evolution of some major Archean cratonic blocks, namely Kaapvaal (South Africa), Pilbara and Yilgarn (Western Australia), Superior and Slave (Canada), West Greenland, and Fennoscandia. Topics include the earliest evidence for plate tectonism, early life, and Archean mineral deposits. The course is designed for Masters and Ph.D. students and for delegates from the mining and exploration industry as well as geological survey organizations.
